Aloe vera is a succulent whose thick leaves contain a clear inner gel of water, polysaccharides (acemannan), enzymes, vitamins and minerals.

It has been used cosmetically and medicinally for at least four thousand years across Egyptian, Greek, Indian and Chinese traditions.

How it works in the body

Acemannan and other polysaccharides are humectant and may support tissue repair. Topical aloe accelerates barrier recovery after burns, including sunburn.

Honest answers

Inner leaf vs whole leaf?
For ingestion, inner leaf only. The outer leaf contains aloin, a strong laxative not meant for daily use.
